Genealogical Research

As well as my academic research I have also been involved in one of the country's largest single name genealogical projects; The Diaper Family currently have over 10,000 entries in the family tree. The family can trace its direct descent back to the early 1500s and back another hundred years before that in surviving Southampton records. The current research suggests the family arrived in Southampton either as one of the families planted in the town by William the Conqueror or during the time of the civil war known as The Nineteen Long Winters in the early twelfth century. The supporting social and historical background about the family and their home for a thousand years, Itchen Ferry Village can be found on the Diaper Heritage website that I compiled in 2006 and continue to edit.
